This years Goodwood Festival is dedicated to the Porsche 911
The Goodwood Festival of speed (FOS), which is also referred to around the UK as just the festival of speed, is an event featuring historic motor vehicles, it is held in the Goodwood House Grounds, which are in West Sussex. The event is usually scheduled into the yearly calendar to avoid any clashes with the Formula One season, fans can expect to see motorbikes and cars from over 100 years of worldwide motor racing. This years festival is being dedicated to 50 years of the Porsche 911. There will be an extremely unique sculpture which is based on the amazingly iconic sports car, on display outside of Goodwood House, there will also be a rather vast selection of Porche 911’s appearing over the weekend, both road and race ready.
Porsche 911’s are expected in all arena’s at the festival
Visitors of the fesitval can expect to see Porsche 911’s in every arena in the Festival of speed, they will not only be featuring rather heavily on the prestigious hillclimb and ralley stage, many are anticipated to be shown on the Cartier style et luxe concours lawn aswell. This is just one of the events that are being held globally to celebrate the Porsche 911 this year. There are events planned throughout the world, in Europe, China and America. There is also a rather special exhibition planned for this coming summer at Porche’s museum in Stuttgart. As well as a large significant number of Porsche 911 cars, there will also be 356, 962, 917 and 908 examples featured at the festival this year.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed, is marking it’s very own anniversary aswell as the Porsche 911’s, it is 20 years since Lord March opened his very own driveway to allow some of the most famous racing cars and their drivers inside.
For all of the car enthusiasts, especially Porsche 911 enthustiasts out there the festival will be taking place from the 11th until the 14th of July this year.
