When it comes to buying a new car we all seek advice from many different sources. What Car have long had a reputation for no-nonsense real life reviews help and hints and annually awards cars the prestigious What Car of the Year awards.
This is a converted award for any new car and can make a huge impact on the manufacture and even the model of car we buy.
What Car? split the new car awards into various categories, for example best family new car, best executive new car and even best super-mini but the car of the year is the ultimate accolade.
So who has won the What Car of the year award?
Well it is no surprise that the German Giant Audi has won the overall bet car of the year award with the Audi A3 Sport-back.
So who where the winners and loosers ?
Ford who are no stranger to the awards picked up a total of four awards.
- The Fiesta won the super-mini category
- The Mondeo was named the best family car
- The Mondeo Estate is this year’s top estate car
- The Ford Focus ST-1 is What Car?’s best hot hatch.
BMW also scooped three awards
- The BMW X3 took the Sports Utility Vehicle
- The BMW 320d ED automatic was awarded best executive car
- The Mini Roadster Cooper S best open-top car.
Naturally the best sports Car of the Year went to the Porsche.
Best New car MPV was won for a staggering third year in a row by Seat with the Alhambra only slightly out shadowed by the Audi TT who was named best coupe for the 7th time.
So what of the British made new car’s ?
The home grown Range Rover was warded Luxury New Car of the year.
Mazda was named as winner of the Ultra-low-carbon award for their Sky-active technology.
An award which is sure to please is one which was voted for by What Car? readers and website visitors. They voted to name the Alfa Romeo 4C as most exciting car for 2013.
