The Volkswagen/ Audi owned brand Skoda has as at last released the details on its 3rd generation Octavia.
Skoda have of late won many many awards from not only the motoring eleite but also from the general public. The ever popular Skoda Octavia already known as a work horse is now refocusing and regrouping. The hotly awaited will go on sale from march 2013 and seeing the ever popular Skoda concentrate on quality. This is in a bid to compete with the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Insgina in the race to compete for your buying power.
The aim is according to a Skoda spokesperson is to offer “middle-class qualities at a compact-car price”.
Being Audi / Volkswagen controlled it is not surpriseing that the car is based on the same platform as the new Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf and Seat Leon and comes with a choice of 4 petrol and 4 diesel engines. The green minded amongst us will be pleased as the Skoda Greenline version is going to come with a 1.6 tdi engine with just 89g / km and a admirable 83 mpg.
As well as the standard gearbox you will be able to choose from a DSG and even a 4×4.
Safety has also been increased with many options such as adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam lights, traffic sign recognition and adaptive driving modes.
Other options include ….
- tilting panoramic sunroof
- key-less entry and start
- automatic lane guidance
- emergency city braking
The Skoda will also come with up to nine bag’s making this generation the safest to date.
Prices are expected to rise in line with the cars new focus on safety and quality, and while as yet they remain unconfirmed they are expected to be in the region of £14,000 for a basic model and the Skoda VRS closer to £22,000.
The savvy among us may see this as an opportunity to grab a bargain as Skoda improves the customer offers on the old model.
