Land Rover have released a sneak look at the DC100 ahead of its world wide debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
They have also confirmed that they will start production of a new Defender in 2015.
Gerry McGovern, Director of Design, Land Rover said: “Replacing the iconic Defender is one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world; it is a car that inspires people worldwide. This isn’t a production-ready concept but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century.”
John Edwards, also said ”Loved the world over for its simple, honest and distinctive design, we are determined that the new Defender will be true to its heritage, while meeting the requirements of a changing global market. We plan to engage with existing and potential customers to help us finalise the details of the new vehicle. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be an exciting journey, and we can’t wait to get going.”
The all new Land Rover DC100 hopes to have taken all the best bits we love and expect while keeping its own character.
Land Rover is known world wide not only for its rugged build and fantastic off road capabilities but also in later years for its comfort and advancements in technology and driver comfort. The Brand is loved by the public and the motoring press alike with the Top Gear team even using it as their camera vehicle.
In fact while growth in sales in some sectors of the car market have slumped or even gone into decline the Land Rover brand seems to be going from strength to strength. Land Rover we have been told is reported to be shortly announcing the opening of a new factory here in the UK to keep up with demand.
